Online Safety

Online Safety is an important part of keeping children safe at Ellingham VC and Woodton Primary Federation . We have extensive security measures in place in school, which are monitored both internally and externally, to help safeguard pupils from potential dangers or unsuitable material. Any Online Safety incidents are recorded and managed.  Online Safety is taught to all pupils explaining and demonstrating how to stay safe and behave appropriately online.

We can only be successful in keeping children safe online if we work with parents to ensure the e-Safety message is consistent. It is important that parents speak to their children about how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online

SMART

Online Safety Curriculum

To ensure we are educating children about the importance of Online Safety, we have adopted Project Evolve to support us in our teaching.

What is ProjectEVOLVE?

The ProjectEVOLVE toolkit is based on the UKCIS framework “Education for a Connected World” (EFACW). This framework covers knowledge, skills, behaviours and attitudes across eight strands of our online lives from early years right through to eighteen. These outcomes or competencies are mapped to age and progress. The statements guide educators to the areas that they should be discussing with children as they develop their use of online technology.

How we use ProjectEVOLVE

We have looked at the key areas for online safety from ProjectEvolve and have mapped these across the school year.  Each half term has a different focus, and one discrete Online Safety lesson is delivered on the current theme.  This information is shared with parents via an Online Safety newsletter.
